About

John Grímsey & Rebecca Hamer

The Honey Ants are John Grímsey and Rebecca Hamer. Their songs are Nashville-infused Americana underpinned by a distinctly London sound.

After meeting, the two discovered a shared love of Americana, tried a few songs together and found theirs was an unquestionably unique vocal blend. Armed with that and a passion for classic songwriting, they took their songs from London rooms like Ronnie Scott’s and The Borderline to Country2Country at The O2 — and across the Atlantic to Nashville, first to write and play showcases in 2016, then for AmericanaFest in 2017.

Along the way they had support from the PRS Foundation International Showcase Fund, Music Week, Record of the Day, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, CBC Radio 2 in Canada, WFUV in New York and Amazing Radio, and their music featured on Channel 4’s Sirens.

The Honey Ants vocal harmonies give the AC a run for its money, John Grímsey’s Harry Nilsson-esque croon mixing so perfectly with Rebecca Hamer’s sweeter touch as to induce goose bumps and foot stomping from the audience where percussion would be.
